Spatial Reference Object Model Published
We have published our spatial reference object model to indicate our various types, like 3D types and other 2D types, not specified in the OGC model. These types are marked in a different colour in the object model for spatialdb. We have added an additional 24 geometry types. For more information, see the references section.

OGC Specifications Compliancy
Spatial Data Library (spatialdb) has implemented 36 geometry types to allow full OGC compliance and beyond. Not one of the other databases found has this many or as complete a set of geometry types. A full suite of 2D and 3D operations and predicates are available. Because spatialdb supports the OGC well known binary and well known text format for 2D objects, it gives us a standard way of storing our 2D and 3D graphic data.

Complete Graphics Library
Spatial Data Library (spatialdb) besides being an extension to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is also a complete graphics library in its own right. It supports all the OGC operations on a client machine without having to refer to a database and could read data from any OGC compliant source and manipulate it and store it back to the original source. As such it is more than just a SQL Server extension.
